Our lab and our collaborators from City of Hope and University of Cincinnati receives a mulit-PI/multi-Institional research grant from JDRF. We will develop the novel transplantable bionanofiber materials to control oxygenation and immune response to improve the survival of stem cell derived pancreatic islets for cell therapy in diabetes.

We and our colleagues at KAIST and Salk Institute’s latest study identified estrogen-related receptor γ (ERRγ), a master transcriptional factor for mitochondrial metabolic regulation links metabolic dysfunction to lead acute pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is the leading cause of pancreatic cancer or autoimmune diabetes, therefore this finding provide the better understanding of the pathogenesis of pancreatic diseases.
